The core function of the City of Monroe’s Finance Department is ensuring the financial health of the City by:
- Monitoring all fiscal activities and producing financial reporting and forecasting to staff, Council and the public.
- Providing administrative support to other City departments assisting them in reaching their goals and objectives.
- Supplying the City with essential quality and courteous services including Income Tax, Utility Billing, Mayor’s Court and fundamental accounting processes in conformity with general accepted accounting principles and in compliance with the Ohio Revised Code.
- Assuring taxpayers that the City of Monroe is well managed by using prudent financial management.
In addition, the Finance Department is also responsible for various general accounting procedures including:

- Accounts payable
- Accounts receivable
